George Potter, Hero of the Hour!

The remarkable, surprising, awesome, MAGIC, Mr George Potter speaking at Lib Dem conference on behalf of sick and disabled people. I honestly had no idea it was going to be about me.....

  1. George, I'm awestruck by how brilliant you were up there. Utterly professional, totally passionate. Pretty inspiring.

You must be a total hero to people with disablements.

  2. For the time limit George that you were allowed you did very well had i been at the conference you could have got me to stand up and with my shirt removed would have indeed shocked everyone to such extent the conference would have had to be taken off from the bbc coverage so do please bear that in mind in future with your fellow speakers

Also do please bear in mind in future speeches those that have died whilst waiting for their DWP appeal to come through as that death toll is rising and somehow that needs to addressed and those deaths pinned to the conservatives door

When the full research has been done in to the deaths of welfare claimants where the additional stress placed upon them has expedited their death then am sure the police would love to get involved

  4. George Potter, a man of passion, integrity, courage and compassion. Let us all hope he continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of politics - he would be a rare but most welcome addition to Parliament if that were to be his chosen path. Thank you George!!

  6. The accolade is an ancient ceremony to confer knighthood, the tapping of the flat side of a sword on the shoulders of an outstanding candidate. Tapping sword on Mr George Potter!

  7. It should be noted that unworthy candidates had their heads swiftly removed by a side swipe. Sadly this efficient practise has fallen out of favour today. ;(

  8. Good for him for speaking. I agree with him entirely.

    But...

The Libdems are a lost cause. They command no respect and knew full well what they were inheriting (and I don't mean this mealy mouthed nonsense about a deficit) when they chose to get into bed with the tories. Are you seriously suggesting they are going to now wake up to the reality of Cameron and his boot boys?

    Noble sentiments change nothing.

Noble sentiment is the first step on the road to changing things. The noble sentiment has now become party policy and I have it on good authority that 50 of our 57 MPs are prepared to back that new policy. Noble sentiment to party policy to government policy - that is what I think we will see over the next few weeks.

To everyone else, thanks for your kind words :) But a) this situation should never have been allowed to come about in the first place and b) the real credit goes to Sue and all those like her who have fought for so long to be heard - if it were not for them then I would have never had even realised there was a situation desperately in need in a change of government policy.

  11. Of course you're right. People who have, despite feeling crap, blogged and blogged about this to make politicians hear, are heros too.

But someone who could, picked up the baton and ran with it. That's you. So take your credit with the rest George.

It's sad that it wouldn't occur to our politicians that in trying to weed out the cheats, they would hurt so many of the most vulnerable in our society. It shows how utterly detached they are from real life.

And you're correct. A journey of 1000 miles, and all that.

  12. The political moral high ground has been left vacant and barren for many years with all parties moving to the overcrowded centre ground. Those who can truly fill that position are destined for greatness. Those who don’t stand for something stand for nothing and those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
