I was just following orders......

Oh Britain, you look away.

Please see.

See them claim that the state should not fund the work of charities trying to alleviate homelessness if the group dare to disagree with what they're doing? Have you not heard? Any disagreement : Striking, campaigning on benefits helping colleagues through union work - they would starve them out of that protest by stopping benefits or pay? See them silence us?

What about the quadriplegic, non-verbal, unable to feed woman, totally reliant on the state for her dignity and support? She uses eye movement software to write her negative opinions about welfare reform? Because she has lost 8 hours a week care and has to find another £170 a month towards her housing benefit - but only for a while, because they are making her move to a smaller property when there are no smaller properties and she will have to leave behind the 1000s of £s worth of modifications to her home that have been done over the years?

You would starve her into silence? Oh wait..... not flickering her eyes?

If you think this is fantasy it absolutely isn't. It is happening up and down the country - yes to people that are that disabled - and you are all turning away. You are choosing to look away. You quote comforting opinion polls from a public fed a steady stream of scrounger propaganda as though that means something??

Politicians, you crow that welfare reform is "popular" without even the most basic understanding of the policies you support? You seek the popularity-refuge of rationing nappies for disabled adults and leaving people in their own filth overnight? You sigh with relief that people will be delighted when you leave disabled people trapped in their own homes without the vital services or transport they rely on?

There is a case in Worcester where the council wants to put disabled people currently living independently, back into institutions again because it's cheaper. Google it - I'm not making it up. Would you accept asylums for your own children? See them locked away?  But you turn away. You ignore the 0.5% fraud rate (DWP own figures) and you continue to believe what you're told "Ah but so many are just trying it on"

You turn away. You look away. You let it happen.

As Edmunde Burke said "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing"

  2. The government propaganda machine's manipulation of facts to create the poll results it wants has been terrifying in its efficiency. How long will people be fooled by these ruthless conmen.
A devastating post, as always, Sue - thank you for exposing the truth so eloquently.

  3. The worst part is this is just the beginning of what they have planned.

  4. Just seen some good news on the great Johnny Void blog:

"Slowly but surely the scrounger stories are being replaced by tales of homelessness, food banks and cancer patients being stripped of benefits. Perhaps people are finally waking up to the stark reality, which is that the Welfare State is good value for all but the very rich and it won’t just be the poor who suffer should it be dismantled."

Two recent polls, one in the Daily Mail, and one in the Telegraph, have found that a majority of their readers OPPOSE housing benefit cuts for under-25's.

  6. I don't believe people are ignoring what's happening. They simply don't know what's happening. Most folk in their busy lives don't have time to be investigative journalists or whatever so they get their brief distorted glimpses of the world outside their immediate environs from the media. The media, as we know, is largely bought and paid for. If people really understood what was happening, there'd be an eruption of rage at the politicians who're doing this. I think you've got the wrong end of this.

  7. Burke was being far too polite. When good men do nothing in the face of evil, they cease to be good men and become silent accomplices.

  8. Most people do not ignore the problem as such its just a lot of them do not understand it. it takes a highly educated person most of the time to understand the government's latest plan backed up by polls created with the help of the media (yes i am looking at you newspapers).

  9. most people do not know what is happening to the disabled ,as there is a massive propaganda campaign against the most challenged. the media, television ,does not air any thing positive apart from the piece of garbage by the one show ,the little bold bloke what was it? nab a scrounger taring all or most disabled as scroungers. british television media has let down the sick and disabled of this country, to the same degree as hitting a puppy, with a stick and by the same token should be ashamed of them selves and shame on them for there integrity in producing unbalanced programming. a disgrace to them selfs and there profession .most of the tabloid press range from fanatical lies, to pure crap. or tho i will say again the guardian, is for me, the only paper who is reporting any of this ,and amillia gentleman, for me leads her field on the disabled cause, along with sue, hear on this site, maximum kudos. i also feel that labour ,are definitely not doing enough politically ,tho i live in hope. tho i need to know what they will do for the disabled before i vote for not new, but apparently new new labour. any one fancy mass emailing any one? shadow disabled minister, or may be the labour main office, steve

  10. It's Absolutely out of order, and whats more there's no need for all this austerity crap anyway. We could introduce an unconditional basic income funded by taxing all spending at a very small rate. They threaten to cut housing benefit for the poor, while claiming thousands for second homes, they're a bunch of corrupt self serving lying thieving Bastards, and we must stand up against them.

I'm doing it by running for mayor of bristol with a single manifesto promise " to pay all adults £15,000 a year in unconditional basic income, fully costed out.
    I'm serious http://corruptbstard.wordpress.com/recommended-manifesto-pledges/

  11. Yes you are right it is absofkkinlutely out of order.WE already know it is and yes the majority of the public do not(and more to the point care not to) understand and it is our duty to make them understand.
They keep hearing about scrounger this ..we must and it is right that we do REFORM the something for nothing culture.Well fine lets do that shall we and we should start by firstly calling for the replacement of the whole bloody useless Financial Services Authority because as we have seen today from thier frankly derisory fine of the bank involved in the continuing manipulation of the Libor rate they will do nothing to curb the banks and the stealing done by them of OUR money. The politicians are party to this by using the FSA to say yes we are being tough on the banks but in reality doing sweet fa.
Why does this matter well remeber we are in a recesion cuased by the criminal activities of our financial instituitions and of course the austerity measures imposed on us all are the direct result of these robbing bastards.
Couple that with ids and graylings pogroms on the sick/disabled and frankly those not deemed worthy as part and parcel of a greater ideological plan then yes it all matters and yes we should be rising up.
Yes the words of Burke are true but if we all stand by and do not fight together then we are facilitating our own demise and that my friends is the kind of compliant stupidity ids etc are relying on so i will say it again how many times do you have to be punched in the face before you fight back.
Look we know how bad it is going to get..WE KNOW so what next eh!!!!!!!!

  12. Cameron piously refers to employed people's resentment of people on benefits. He should know. He's been working on it. Divide and rule.

  13. Yeah they all have. Its true that the biggest scroungers are the banks who are really trading insolvent and only survive because we bail them out.Jp morgan remember them... subsided to the tune of 14 TRILLION which accounts for 70% of thier profits last year and thats just one bank in the US.
Listen to Max Kieser and look steve keens site debtdeflation.com as should call me dave , george, ids, grayling AHHH but wait they already know what Max says its all a great big ponzi scheme and its gone badly wrong which is why we bail em out and starve....YOU couldnt make this crap up if you tried.

  15. I've just been watching Question Time, that was a very bad idea, definitely wont be watching it again. It's bad enough being savaged by this vicious society, without listening to the ignorant self-righteous British public screaming that I'm living the life of riley paid for in full by the hard-working decent taxpayer.

What I've just witnessed was just an orgy of benefit scrounger bashing. It was like the two minute hate in 1984. The whole audience was in agreement that people on benefits are scum of the earth who have Sky TV and foreign holidays.

A foolish spiteful woman just said she's low paid and really struggling so "why should someone on benefits get more money than her?" Instead of demanding a decent wage from the bosses who are paying themselves gargantuan wages she'd prefer someone lower on the totem pole to be destroyed. That would make her feel better. The Labour minister and the Labour supporter just meekly agreed.

I've seen tonight just why the ruling elite will always win in the end. The people are just to susceptible to propaganda and sophistry and they always will be. It's just the way they are. For the ruling elite it really is like taking candy from a baby. They must really laugh at how easy it is. The British people are just like a cat chasing it's own tail.

  16. I can't watch question time, if I did it would cost me a fortune in televisions. The day is coming when this country will be a mirror of other failing euro-states, and the majority of people will sit wondering what the hell happened as they find themselves out of work with no benefits system to support them and no jobs.
