Fighting Fund!

The DLA research is almost complete. We have raised £2885 which is quite simply, miraculous.

Now, I'm not a businesswoman. I'm not a politician. I don't have a nice warm office full of tech and techies. I don't have independent resources.

When I originally asked if you wanted to do this, I had no idea VAT would be added to the printing costs (like I said, I'm not a businesswoman) and I'm sorry to say that I didn't realise the funding site and PayPal would take 10% of the donations. Finally, I had no idea that meeting the incredibly tight deadlines over Xmas would add 50% to the printing costs.

There are just a few days left before I have to pay the printers.

Please, I know it's Xmas, I know times are very, very tough, but anything you can donate will help to make this a reality. Tell your friends, ask your Mum, sell the dog's blankie - but give what you can.

I've had great media interest, but that means people have to get to London on the day the report is released to give interviews - we are all unwell or disabled, so a base to recover from and de-brief will be vital. There will be transport costs, phone charges and internet time to pay for.

As this project has evolved, it has grown beyond all recognition. It has taken on a life of it's own. I am no longer producing the report, the report is producing me! It's also nearly killing me and anything I can do to pay for things I would otherwise have to do myself is becoming more urgent by the day.

It's exciting - thrilling even, to see what we can achieve - what we have achieved just by working together and believing in ourselves.

So please, RT, share, email and beg - I am beyond pride, I don't have the time. Let's have one last push and see if we can hit the £3,500 target. Let's be heard.

Let's WIN.

  1. Aren't you a registered charity? if you are you're VAT exempt.

  2. Interesting point from Sarah. I've checked the Charity Commission website and it says:

"A registered charity is not allowed to have political objectives or take part in political lobbying (other than in a generally educational sense)" which I think would preclude you from applying for charity status. :/

  3. you do not need to worry about VAT until you hit the 60,000 Pound threshold

  4. Nor should you really pay VAT on printing, though it is complicated: http://www.tomtheprinter.co.uk/2007/02/uk-governments-rules-for-vat-on-printed.html

  7. Well sue it costs what it costs and we should keep the fund going for as long as we need it,which is probably along time,as fighting costs money. If we raise the sum needed now there is nothing to stop us all donating as ans when we can and we need to keep doing so as we should aim to get the 8 million sick and disabled fully informed as to what is going on and we can then get rid of camclegg on the next available opportunity. We should make that our next aim and make sure the MPs who seek to starve us all know that we wont take it anymore. Reading the latest BULLitin from IDS the attacks from the govy via the media continue so we have to carry on.

  8. once all of the sick and disabled know about this fund it will hit over ten million pounds easy and that would just be a very small donation enough money to fight this government for as long as it takes and bring about some sensible policies that don't leave fear and death in peoples minds

  11. Is it worth setting up a co-operative on where the future funds should be spent. its planning that is needed here i believe, not just for now but for future generations

  12. Fourbanks....10 million that would be nice although you wonder what slice the tax man would want in which case would be feeding the hand that bites even more but yes it would be great as then we could fight for not only dla, which i dont personally get although i have contributed to this fund, but we could also fight for fairness in all aspects including incap/esa,(incap included for those who are still on it and have not yet had the dreaded crappy brown evnelope)and various others. Also it could be used as i said above to make this bloody govt, and the other partys too, aware that we are many and can influence the outcome of any election should we all rise together.NOW think what we could achieve then.Any one of them would have to listen and dare i say it meet our demands.WE should and would then be included in any policy discussions as should be the right of all the electorate directly affected by all and any changes or proposals of change .8 MILLION people is a lot of power and with such a fund we could get all of them together and ..............a co-operative maybe BUT why not a union as i have said before. If we want strength then we have to do it ourselves.

  13. Thanks sarcboy
As i say once the people got to hear of this fund it would take off as it effects many people you would only need to contribute long term of just £5 per year per person which everyone could afford

Having said that the law society still have yet to come up with a suitable set of lawyers to help us and i have been through the short list that they gave me and at this time am no further forward

Having spoke to many of the very best lawyers in the uk they feel I'm sunk hence they have not stepped forward in the first place

I always had i gut feeling that was the case and will continue behind the scenes to see if there is a way forward

max Clifford is back in the office next week and maybe he may know of someone but i doubt it

And that was the reason sue that i often sound negative as i am a specialist in the judgement of people and my negativity comes about from having to do things off my own back throughout my life

People have always said they were qualified in this that and the other but when they have come across me I've found as so often is the case they no nothing or very little and have been of no help whatsoever not only to what i have required of them but also in general to what others have required of them

Most people in the uk have always just been given advice and the public buy and large have just gone along with it knowing no better which is far from ideal

  15. Lawyers always think a case is a no hoper until funds appear and then then tune changes to one of optimism.Maybe Liberty would know of one.
A fiver a year from us all isnt much and worth it.

  16. All right, let's not drag the thread down again with "I've had 30 years of woe." So has everyone here. Let's make the 31st year rock! And we're working on that.

I'm still spreading the word about this and I can hunt details down on the internet if nothing else. Sort of housebound at the mo (actually more than sort of, totally housebound) but this is why We Love Teh Internetz

  18. Anon the orginal post is here also linked on the fund page http://diaryofabenefitscrounger.blogspot.com/2011/12/research-fund-fighting-disability-cuts.html

Also if you read http://diaryofabenefitscrounger.blogspot.com/2011/12/time-to-choose.html explains why it was carried on and the above post explains why the cost was more.

  19. Guys, I just want to say that you've all been amazingly trusting.

If I want to really get the most out of the media opportunities and other potential benefits, I have to be a bit cagey.

I am not the cagey type, so I try to give as much detail as I can without revealing exactly what is in the report.

I've been awed by how understanding everyone has been "We trust you, do it!"

I swear, if I possibly can pull this off, I will.
