Maybe Unum?

The Labour Party should come out now and say that if they came to power they would terminate the contract with Atos with immediate effect, words are cheap actions provide a clearer picture?

It seems that the Labour Party are trying to rewrite history by ignoring the cruel and abusive systems they introduced to the disabled and sick of the UK, I will never trust Labour again I will watch and listen but I think where all going to be hugely dissapointed if and when they do come to power?

Bringing the Paralympians into the theme is another Tory idea, supa crips who can jump single buildings, who can run marathons or who can throw a hammer from a specially adapted wheelchair, I have no time I'm sorry for any of the Paralympians as when they were asked for support last year over Atos their silence was shameful, it wasn't until after the games that their bravery became unshrouded?

This speech just another load of empty words..

www.atosvictimsgroup.co.uk Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16111191166341435903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4568034298343558962.post-38727589404071603632013-07-11T11:55:21.766+01:002013-07-11T11:55:21.766+01:00Thanks so much for posting this Sue. And it seems that Byrne has been influenced by you and others, which is a very good thing. It's such a shame that he can't seem to match visioning exercises with actual behaviour that will benefit ordinary people. misspiggyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13875859883323529895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4568034298343558962.post-90426302302886375952013-07-11T00:51:01.512+01:002013-07-11T00:51:01.512+01:00I wonder how many of today's politicians cry t...I wonder how many of today's politicians cry themselves to sleep, because they weren't born in the 1930's and never had a chance to become part of the nazi party, the Saddo scumbags. At court they would be then asked by the judge who gave this instruction and so on down the line as to who the ring leader was so that person could then be brought to trial for sentencing

this is just one scenario but is very valid today in a court of law Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10124601639681931119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4568034298343558962.post-29439587949472993432013-07-10T22:50:31.474+01:002013-07-10T22:50:31.474+01:00Jacqueline i thought not and on that basis Liam By...Jacqueline i thought not and on that basis Liam Byrne's Speech on Disability with regret amounts to being null and void Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10124601639681931119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4568034298343558962.post-76528282221881088532013-07-10T22:10:59.376+01:002013-07-10T22:10:59.376+01:00I'm not impressed! No figures given or asked for about the number of deaths due to the welfare changes.
Also, I, and thousands like me will never be happy whilst Atos is undertaking the assessments, and after all, labour did bring them in to make the changes in the first place!
If we had the "Just Once" then I would be happy with it, but I think it should be done via your own doctor or specialist who knows how your life is affected and will also know if your disability is going to improve over the years or not. So there would be absolutely NO NEED for Atos to have anything to do with the disabled and long term sick!
But then again, can we expect any promises from them if they are having such in house fighting at the moment as well?
I was always a labour supporter, but I truly have my doubts about them now, especially after this last year where they have NOT supported the disabled. I don't know if there is a party I can trust to do anything for us!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06475814533210477851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4568034298343558962.post-20816245313916125112013-07-10T18:00:52.330+01:002013-07-10T18:00:52.330+01:00After my rant above lol! In the Guardian it suggested this meant in terms of your disability, so constant reassessments in social care, ESA, and soon to be PIP, will disappear, rather if you're permanently disabled, and unable to work, you're obviously not going to get better and they should leave you, your income, and your care package alone!

My fear is though, that this will only apply to your 'substantial' care needs as now applied by many councils, so you end up paying ever more amounts in care out of disability income. Due to the cuts to care that the local authority now refuse to fund (that I have to now make up), whilst still paying £3000 per year back to them, and including bedroom tax, I now pay £5900 out of benefits (I have no savings or assets). This is a massive amount for someone working let alone someone receiving benefits.

The drop in my quality of life has become profound. My mobility rate of DLA is completely wiped out by these extra charges, and whilst the local authority were allowing carer's mileage and other transport costs, I didn't mind so much, but they stopped this last year. I was told that when I was financially reassessed, the extra transport costs would be taken into account, but they weren't, the council flatly refused to do so. In law, if transport is an identifiable need in a care plan, as mine was, it should be funded by the direct payment. I told them they were breaking the law, but they don't care. I haven't the wherewithal and health to fight them.

So now I hardly go out at all. I can't visit my mum very often who is old and had to give up her car. I can rarely see my daughter. I rarely socialise or engage in any activity. These things that were taken away are against the equality laws, laws that took years to fight, yet when I bring the subject up with people or comment under newspaper articles, all I'm told by people is that they don't see why I should have any favours done for me being that I'm not working, why I should have any quality of life over and above what they have. And even when I was working professionally yet being provided with transport for work via 'Access to Work', I was told the same, that I should have to struggle just the same as my colleagues, that DLA was a disgrace.

So it will take 6 years to bring about a supposedly better system? Too late for many disabled people who will end up living without dignity, with no quality of life, and facing homelessness.
